What type of insurance should I get? I was supposed to do this months ago..but I'm finally getting around to getting my mare some insurance. I'm going to insure her for major medical and mortality. Should I insure her for something else? I bought her for $800, but she is priced above $1800 right now. I will be showing her local/state in the near future. She's a TB (never raced, not even tattoed) and accident prone. I am mainly getting the insurance in case of colic or major injuries. I was going to use: http://www.equineinsurancecenter.com/?gclid=CP3c3aaFkaMCFSFN5QodtE66mw I haven't really heard about this one, so I'm kinda iffy about using them. What insurance company do you suggest I use? What advice could you give me for my situation? Im 15/girl Hey, so basically ive been on summer holidays for like... 6 weeks, and i have another 6 to go before i go back to a new school. I have hardly done anything because I've had colic since the 2nd week of holidays when it started, i get really bad tummy aches so its hard to go out. Im getting REALLY depressed in the house all the time but when I go out i always have to come back. I know it sounds kinda weird but i wanted to spend this whole Summer doing things getting experience etc so i would have lots of confidence for when i start my new school in September. But being ill and in all the time has kinda if anything taken it away. Is there any ways i could get confidence and not go crazy when im stuck in with colic?? i dont know how long its gonna last for, maybe even the rest of the summer:( I dont want to go back out eventually and be like... a loner with no confidence nor social skills or anything. Im just so down about it all because ive lost my Summer and im worried im setting myself up for a bad start at my new school which i really want to make a good impression at... So im just askin of you have any advice or anything?:) thanks:):) To Daniel K yeah im not even that sure myself, its kinda a stomach sickness thing that mainly babies or horses get (lol) but it makes me have really really bad stomach aches like.. most of the time:P Could my cat hurt my 5 week old b/c she is irritated by his crying? I have a 5 week old baby with colic. When the baby cries really loudly, the cat paces at our feet or jumps up next to us and meows like she is mad/ irritated. I am afraid the cat will scratch or bite the baby b/c the crying hurts the cats ears...help! How long does an episode of colic take to go (in adults)? Im 15 and i was having stomach aches for a few weeks and my doctor told me i had colic and to take these meds and get over the episode. Im on mebeverine, how long will it take for me to get better again? Its just its summer and ive missed out on most of it because of this and im stuck inside etc. and im getting kinda sick of it lol. Thanks:):) Tips on a sleeping routine for my 14 month old? My 14 month old daughter has slept most of her life in a swing. I know, it's terrible. She had colic when she was young and her pediatrician recommended it. Now that she's older and perfectly healthy we want to get her sleeping in her crib. Just before she started teething (7 months) we bought her a Woombie swaddler and she managed to sleep well in it in her crib. But then we moved. She grew out of the Woombie and went right back to the swing. (the swing holds up to 30 pounds if anyone is wondering). She just won't sleep any other way. I want to establish a healthy sleep routine with her and I am in need of some suggestions and guidance. It's her nap time right now and she's up there crying away because I put her in her crib instead of the swing. Despite my reassurancesshe's not happy with it. She was sleeping when I put her in there but she quickly woke up and protested. Please, any advice would be appreciated. You've got to be kidding me. One year is not old enough for a big girl bed. And to the nut case that said that colic happens to only new borns ...you're wrong buddy. She had DIAGNOSED colic and reoccuring ear infections until 5 months. We moved across the country because my husband is in the army and I desperately needed sleep. For your information she only cried for 15 minutes and is now sleeping. I bet you're just a perfect person and have never done anything wrong, right? how can i prevent my horse from getting colic? if one day my horse gets colic, how do i get rid of it? Question about newborn sleep schedules? I'm a new young mum to a two week old boy and I just had a few questions in regards to sleep. I don't believe in waking him to feed, I wouldn't like to be woken and then a boob shoved in my mouth so I wait until he lets me know, usually when he wakes up. The other day he slept for 6 hours and then fed straight away, yesterday he barely slept at all and ate alot in the evening and then slept for another 7 hours until 8am this morning. He had 15 minutes of breast and fell asleep again, I thought that he may be sleeping too long so I woke up with a bath, fed him again for another 15 and he went back to sleep for another few hours, only just rousing now. Is this normal for the first few weeks to be so up and down? I thought he may of had colic the first few days because he was so whingy but turns out he just wanted more breast, not sure if it was just comforting or he was actually hungry. Perhaps it's a growth spurt? Either way, he's darling. Any advice? And also, where does your newborn sleep? I kind of move him around with me. I bring him in the lounge in the mornings with his bassinet, at night I pop him in his room for awhile if there's alot of noise (cooking etc), and then he's beside us in his bassinet during our sleep at night. Thanks to those who reply :) Thanks for all your lovely advice :) Emma's mommy - I do expose him to loud noises, especially during the day. The TV is usually blaring and I have a 12 week old puppy and a 2 year old dog. I'm always crashing about and he always sleeps straight through. I do worry about dinner time though, I wouldn't want his sleep to be constantly disturbed. Thank you ladies :) Is my son Colicky, Teething...? My son is only 7 weeks old and his doctor says he COULD be colicky, but how do I know for sure? Also I had my dentist tell me that babies can start teething at any time, that there are even some babies who are born with teeth. He is so indisissive at times and makes me think he is having a panic attack at others. Here is what he does: *He screams for hours at a time *Sometimes he wants to be held and rocked others he wants to be put in his swing and left alone *He fights his sleep by doing everything he can to stay awake but if he seems to be losing the battle he'l scream to wake himself up *He is drooling SOOOOO much which is new for him *He goes thru periods where he doesn't want to eat for like 3 days *He screams so loud he stops breathing *He is a breastfed baby and he will have moments where he is screaming at me WHILE eating *He kicks and thrashes as tho something is getting him (wether he is eating, laying there, or being held) *He has gone 12+ hrs without sleep *He seems to be in pain a lot of the time *He seems to be pushing a lot of the time (I give him Milacon wich seems to help with the pushing but it causes him to have a BM, an explosive one, that he usually ends up in the bath for...EVERYTIME he takes it, so I don't wana give it to him every few hours like the doctor says) Is it Colic, is he teething (I ask about teething because of the drooling factor), does he maybe have an intestinal/digestive issue? Or is he just a cranky 7 week old? Idk what to do or think on how to calm him I try everything and we can end up going in circles for HOURS, we try everything from baths, bouncing, walks, driving, leaving him alone, music, milacon... I'm tired of the Doc just looking at him and saying HHHMMM... Well he is at that age that it COULD be colic but we dont know...just keep an eye one him Any help is appreciated. By the way I'm kinda on my own right now because my husband just had surgery and can't do much to help me. My grandma says that my son is cranky because of what I am eating, but the doctors say that what you eat doesn't effect the baby... Could what I'm eating be whats making my baby so uncomfortable? Thank you The Bundle Jungle! I've been starting to softly sing to him and it seems to help a little, like the sound of my voice calms him, but the Swaddling thing I never thought of I need to try that. And the kitchen fan is an interesting idea.
