Babysitting Questions?
Hello, I am on my Aunts account again. I have a few things I would like to share with you, and a few things I would like to ask you.... I am going to start babysitting, so I have a few questions... Before you say anything, let me tell you a little bit about me. I am 13 years old and have experience with small children and infants. I have taken babysitting classes and am certified by the American Red Cross (So I know CPR for infants and children) Im not going to say that I am very mature for my age because I feel like that is bragging, but many adults have said that I am. For babysitting, I would have to meet the parent, ask them about their kids, If they are allergic to anything, what the local hospital number is, (I know 911, but some cities have certain numbers), there doctor's number, etc. So for the questions... How much should I charge for babysitting? Would you let me babysit if you knew me? What ages should I babysit? (I was thinking 6 months to 6 years) P.S that's just what I know I could handle. I know a lot about infants. I can actually take care of even younger ones, but I have a feeling no one is going to trust me with a newborn, which I completely understand! So thank you so much for reading all of this, I know it was long, and please give me your honest opinion. Have a great day and God Bless. :)

how can i tell if a tooth is working its way to break through?
my baby is a little over 5 months old. she has been chewing her hands/toys and drooling nonstop, acting fussy at times, seems uncomfortable at times, having diaper rash and poo issues lately (never had that before). Someone said she could be close to breaking a tooth. What does it look like exactly? i can see teeth shapes in her gums but how do i know if theyre ready to make their way out? how do i get her to open her mouth a little more so i can see in? also my cousin with two toddlers is swearing up and down to dab my finger with rum to rub on her gums saying the baby doesnt ingest it. really? people do that? i went to buy baby oragel and there were so many different versions of it (all for infants). What one is good? why are their different kinds? what i mean by being able to see teeth shapes in her gums: basically a whiter area in her gums in a teeth pattern. there is a little bit of pink (not much) below this whitened area. i can usually see the top gums well when shes smiling, it is the bottom gums i can't really get a good look at. thanks for the picture links! but i couldnt get them to work

Sign language for infants?
I have seen several websites, questions and videos pertaining to teaching infants sign language. From what I have absorbed, I think it is a fantastic idea. Children will be able to communicate before they skillfully develop their language skills. I plan on teaching my son (who is 6 months, i believe this is the age to start) just a few core words. Probably around 10 milk, mommy, daddy, hungry, - simple, useful words. If he seems to catch on, I will probably teach him more. If he shows disinterest or difficulty in learning, I will in no way push him to learn these words. Have any of you done this, or know parents who did? Were they successful? Did they just start with a few words? Opinions on the subject?

Terms of endearment for infant?
I want to ask because this was brought up yesterday: Calling a heavy baby Fatty McFatster and Chunker Chunk...and laughing about, calling it terms of endearment...what is your opinion of this? Some names I thought were okay, but I think better of it now. My province's Public Health and Government published a series of books with regard to childcare which they give you with your first baby at the hospital: Don't give your baby a nickname you wouldn't want to have yourself, even if you're only joking. An unkind nickname such as 'Piggy' or 'Dummy' or 'Chubby' might seem funny or cute when your baby is small. But nicknames have a way of sticking and it won't be funny when they're older. It's also not helpful to give your baby a label--like telling your baby that they're 'shy'. 'difficult', or 'picky'. These kinds of labels may make your baby feel bad about themselves as they get older. http://www.gov.ns.ca/hpp/publications/09046_6to12MonthsBook_Jul09_En.pdf found on page 4.
