Tummy Time Mat and Infant Gym? Good morning! I am due in May and already have an infant gym for my baby, and am wondering if I also need a tummy time mat too. I dont know if it would just come in handy to have, or if the infant gym would serve the same purpose. Any opinions/experience? Thanks!!! Rush Limbaugh wants to leave the country if health reform is passed!? Question Apparently on his radio show, Rush stated that he would leave the country if health reform is passed and go to Costa Rica. ------------------------------------ CALLER: If the health care bill passes, where would you go for health care yourself? And the second part of that is, what would happen to the doctors, do they have to participate in the federal program, or could they opt out of it? [...] LIMBAUGH: My guess in even in Canada and even in the UK, doctors have opted out. And once they’ve opted, they can’t see anybody Medicare, Medicaid, or what will become the exchanges. They have to have a clientele of private patients that will pay them a retainer and it’ll be a very small practice. I don’t know if that’s been outlawed in the Senate bill. I don’t know. I’ll just tell you this, if this passes and it’s five years from now and all that stuff gets implemented — I am leaving the country. I’ll go to Costa Rica. ------------------------------------------------------- See this link for a playback of the call. http://thinkprogress.org/2010/03/09/limbaugh-exile-health-care/ Unfortunately it looks like Costa Rica already has a similar system to the reform package that's being discussed: Costa Rica’s hybrid government-private health care system provides comprehensive universal coverage to all residents — and even sells affordable policies to soon-to-be visitors like Limbaugh. The government owns several major public hospitals and operates small clinics in almost every community. Workers are required to contribute 15% of their salaries to health insurance and the unemployed “obtain public funding for all health services, including prescription drugs.” At least a third of all Costa Rican residents receive some care in the private sector and the government regularly purchases services from private providers. The system is not without its problems, but it boasts a higher ranking from the World Health Organization — Costa Rica is 36, United States 37 — and has higher life expectancy and lower infant mortality rates. Costa Rica also spends less per capita on health care than the United States and insures almost all of its residents. So my question to you is, where in the developed world could Rush flee to if he was indeed serious? Excellent job Shovel Ready. You have stated the obvious. Now let me clarify... WHERE in the developed world is he going to go to find health care that isnt ruined by a socialist approach? His chosen destination of Costa Rica already has the same approach he'd be fleeing from. why would infant have diarrhea and no fever? Daughter has had diarrhea for the past 4-5 days if not more..but she hasn't had a fever or any vomitting. Not sure what could be cause of diarrhea, she may be teething, she's drooling more, and knawing on everything possible..no new foods introduced, and she's not dehydrated, any suggestions? Where would i find this? I tried finding a place that would fit an infant. they are very hard to find here where they cant see infant traveling on Hawaiian airlines? I just checked in 6 passengers online and printed our boarding passes, but it would not let me print one for our infant lap child. His name didn't even show up as a name to check in. But when I went to view my trip, his name shows up as part of our group. Do we need a boarding pass for him on hawaiian airlines? does he need a boarding pass (or what does he need) to go through the security check points? What are some Irish American family values in raising infant? I'm a nursing student and doing a paper on an Irish American infant. What are some Irish American family values in raising infant/children? I doing a paper on an Irish American infant. Can someone share? Family roles I need some feedback. wow some here need to relax. I was assigned an Irish American infant and I have to discuss cultural implication on the paper. Switching from rear facing to forward facing seat dilemma, help? My daughter's almost 17 months old. Well, she's now too tall for her infant seat but she doesn't weigh 20 pounds yet(16 pounds, doctor says she's fine, she's just skinny tall,33 inches). Then my friend(who also has a baby) told me that it's recommended that babies stay rear facing until age 2 so she's in the same boat as me but her son's closer to 2 and at the max limit for his rear facing seat. I don't like the way she rides now,I'm not comfortable with it. When I asked my Mom about what I should do she said just to switch her over to the forward facing seat since she'll eventually grow into it. She also pointed out that she did that with my brother me and we're fine. She is my Mom but I don't really want to take that chance since I've been hit before(in the side by somebody who didn't want to wait for the light to change on their side). So I'm kinda stuck. What do you think would be the better thing to do? Oh,and she can sit up perfectly on her own. She's over the height limit for her current seat. Can someone reccomend me branded wholesale infant/ kids clothes?? I am in Malaysia.? i am looking to purchase bulk kids clothes. Can someone help?? anyone with info, please mail to lovechild_s@yahoo.com Parents General you by the way, not pointing a finger at anyone, and don't assume I'm accusing you if you're not, in fact, guilty of the following: I'm no prude, and I'm not advocating everyone dress in fundie-style potato sack dresses and matching polos. But there is a line to be drawn. And sometimes people (who have alarmingly already reproduced) seem to think it's not only okay to cross it, but to ignore all sense of decency. Is it REALLY that hard to not dress your little girl like a hooker? What on earth does a three year old need a skirt with JUICY written on the butt for? In what universe should anyone be thinking of a three year old as JUICY to begin with? I saw a shirt on an infant once: Future trophy wife. I mean, I know the kid can't read it, but really? Is it that hard to just buy age-appropriate clothing? Without slutty sayings and with decent lengths/coverage of the midriff? Really, it is not that difficult. Juicy and Baby Phat are not the world's sole provider of children's clothing, and my daughters have managed to survive physically and socially without any excessive midriffs, skanky sayings or pleather. I promise, my 9 year old daughter's never approached me and said, Mom, all these t shirts, shorts, dresses and jeans are cute, but I really need a pair of pleather booty shorts. Size 8 Slim. No real question here, just a rant and my 2cents on little girls vs. sluts. Report me if you're that insecure with this being thrown out there. PQ: Has a relative or friend ever bought your kids clothing that's totally inappropriate? What did you do about it? Who do you feel should have been asked to change seats? In this situation who do you feel should have been asked if they wanted to change seats? (I'm posting this here because I feel this lady was rude and we should not have been the ones being made to accommodate her) We are taking a mid-day flight and my son and I are on one side and there is a lady and her friend on the side across the isle. The lady has her window open and it is really bright and the sun was reflecting right off of the wing and in to the eyes of my 10 month old son and myself. I ask her if she could use her light or lower her shade a tad. She does not want to but lowers it only about 2 inches just to go through the motion but she sighs very loudly as she does it. Then as she is reading she falls asleep, I ask her friend to lower the shade as my son and I are sitting here being blinded by the sun. Her friend reaches to lower the shade and it wakes her friend up who immediately lifts the shade back up and picks her magazine back up. At that point I'm pissed and feel that she does not truly want to read, she just wants to be rude. Then she is acting tired and she starts to nod off as she reads but then her head rolls and she wakes up. But she keeps the shade wide open and when I ask her to lower it again she refuses. Then I notice her poor friend is blocking her eyes because even her friend is bothered by it. But her friend did not complain, only looks at my son and I sympathetically. Then she and her friend chit chat and the blind sits open. I ask her again if she will lower it and she becomes rude. I go to get the stewardess and tell her the situation... She sees that the sun is reflecting right on to our seats and asks the woman to lower her shade and the woman will not. She asks the woman to use her reading light and the woman will not. But even with the shade all the way closed it's so bright out that she would be able to see just fine. Then I tell the stewardess, but my son and I are very uncomfortable with the light in our eyes. And the stewardess asks us if I would like to pack up my infant and all our things and haul ourselves in to other seat... But she needed to ask 2 people that were sitting next to empty seats to move next to each other so my son and I could have a seat next to each other. I think that's absurd and I decline the offer and the stewardess just apologizes to me and gives the old bat a dirty look. I feel that we should not have been asked if we wanted to move but she should have been made to lower her shade. I did not even ask her to close it all the way, just to lower it some. This is one of the many reasons I HATE flying... Uggg! Well, there were no 1st class seats available but I doubt they would have moved us there anyway. The reason us moving seemed absurd to me was that it is hard to just pick up and move when you have baby and all his stuff. And there were only about 3 open seats in the plane and someone else would have been asked to move so my son and I could have 2 seats together... Why should several people be aranged just because a lady does not want to lower her shade. And why would I want someone else be forced to move so my son and I could change seats when they were not even involved. My sister's infant has tortocollis and.....? I spoke to one of my sisters today and she told me that a Dr diagnosed her baby with tortocollis. But my sister has other concerns... The tortocollis would explain her flat spot on her head and stiff upper muscles but would it explain her total lack of strength in her lower body? She's in physical therapy and my sister does not feel it's helping. She is not as delayed in her mental development than she is in her physical. But she is not laughing, she recently started to smile. But physically, she is not rolling, not sitting up and keeps her legs drawn up to her body like a little frog and she is very small for her age. But she also has digestive problems so I think that's why. She also can not push with her legs and if you try to stand her up her legs collapse instantly. My sister was worried my niece has autism and was looking that up. But she only has one autism symptom that really stands out. She has no control over her body yet and will often flap her arms out of control or go to move her hand to her mouth but hit herself in the side of the face... She said she read that babies with autism will flap their arms about... But this is what worries me. We looked up cerebral palsy and she has basically every symptom. Every symptom.... It even describes problems with swallowing and breathing and around Christmas time she was taken to the ER for strange breathing. She has no muscle strength, tone or control and is delayed on milestones... But how early is too early to diagnose it? And also, is it possible it really is just the tortocollis causing all the problems? How long will tortocollis take to work out? She has been seeing Drs since she was 4 months old. She is going to be 7 months soon and so far she has the best Dr yet. He actually diagnossed her with something and has her in physical therapy. Mom to baby Alex, obviously tortocollis does not cause cerebral pals or autism.... Since you don't undertand my question I will simplify it for you... Dr. is saying baby has tortocollis... We feel it is something more serious... We worry it is cerebral palsy... We want to know how early that can be detected and truly diagnossed... And IF she does indeed have torocollis how long will it take to work out... Is that more understandable for you? Oh also, I already posted her age before you posted your answer.. It is right there if you'd like to know. Thaaaanks :) I need help remembering the title author of a book that I don't remember much about. Will you help me? Unfortunately, all I remember is that it starts out aboard a yacht with the owner, his infant son, and his crew. They are planning on intentionally shipwrecking on an uncharted island where the the owner of the yacht will raise his son into the perfect man. Or, at least, I think that's how it starts. It's something like that, anyway. It's a very, very old book, if I'm not mistaken. I didn't get a chance to get it and read it the first time that I came across it, and now I'd like to track it down and read it. Thank you very much in advance for any help that you're able to provide! Past tense in APA format essays? I am a little confused as to whether or not I can be allowed to use past tense in APA format essays. Because I'm writing a history paper, wouldn't that allow me to write in past tense? I thought you weren't supposed to write in past tense at all. Here is my current opening paragraph:(Wouldn't it sound awkward in present tense?) Thought to be the descendant of the Egyptian god Thoth, Thutmose III is one of the greatest warrior pharaohs of ancient Egypt. After inheriting the throne as an infant, Thutmose III was cast in Hatshepsut's shadow as she ruled Egypt as his replacement until her death. Once he came to power he destroyed many of her monuments due to his bitter feelings towards her, and perhaps it was this resentment that caused him to conquer the lands surrounding Egypt as successfully as he did (Thutmose III Accomplishments, 2009). With his reign lasting around fifty-five years, this pharaoh achieved many things in his lifetime, and it is certain that Thutmose III was important not only for the expansion of Egypt's lands, but for the many developments in their culture. Do you think it's wise to send signals out to space to try to make contact with alien civilizations? I mean, isn't that kinda like a newborn infant crying out in the jungle to anyone who could hear? We don't know what's out there.. no, contrary to popular thought... our tv signals turn into noise approximately 1 light year from here, so they do not reach. and how do you know a species would have to spend a considerable amount of their energy? How do u know they're not warping around like in star trek? HELP! how do I obtain absolutely free police records? I live in Ohio, and I made a report today. I found out via the police dpt. that the individual is well known. How do I find out how (police records)? I am not good at searching the internet effectively and all i can find are sites that charge. Please help as she has threatened to slash my tires, and has already POSSIBLY keyed my car, and is verbally harrassing me (oh, and has tried to force her way into my residence). I am concerned due to safety of my infant, husband, and self. When to switch out my infant's car seat? When should I switch my daughter out of her infant car seat? We currently use a rear-facing seat that goes up to 30 pounds. My daughter just turned one year old two weeks ago, but she only weighs 17 pounds. Yet she is so long, over 30 inches, that I'm wondering if it isn't safe for her to be rear-facing much longer. What are the recommended weight/height limits? And what convertible seats do you recommend next for such a thin baby? Not related to the question: She's in the 3rd percentile and between the 50th and 75th for length, so she's tall, but not ridiculously so. We're actually struggling to get her to gain weight. She's been to the doctor multiple times to make sure there isn't something wrong (or if I'm doing something wrong) but it just looks like a high metabolism since she's growing up, just not out. (Wish I had that problem.) how many times a day should babies eat? i work at a daycare with 2 year olds. in two weeks i am getting moved to the infants class. i know that babies need to eat, sleep, and be changed but how often do i do each of these? the babies are at daycare from 630a-6p. parents let me know how you take care of your babies. and please no one say that i shouldn't do this just becasue i don't know what i'm doing. I've been dating a married man with a failing marriage, should I just stay friends for now? I met this guy two months ago. We started dating a few weeks later. Last week I stopped by his workplace to surprise him when he got off. When I went up to him I grabbed his hands, that's when I felt a ring. He confirmed he was married and told me that it's his choice, not mine. I told him I can't date a married man, he said what's the difference, he likes me and I like him, we'll still in the infant stages of our relationship and it can still go either way whether or not he was married. He said it doesn't mean that he'll not want me eventually, and that plenty of married people leave for someone else. Well I asked him, if he's unhappy with his wife why doesn't he leave her already? He said their relationship is starting to get boring, it can go either way and he wants to get to know others just in case his marriage does fall apart. And he says he can't leave her yet because he doesn't know whether he'll end up with me yet. If he gets divorced now, goes with me, what if our relationship doesn't go anywhere and we break up. Then he has no one. I don't want to intrude in his problem with his wife, I do think they should work it out first, but he does make some sense and he is going through a difficult time. Maybe I should just stay friends with him instead? Medicare--subsidizing adoption? It is my understanding that many women who give birth, and give their children up to adoption through an agency use the U.S.'s welfare programs (WIC, Medicare) to feed and deliver their children. I'm guessing this adds up to several thousand dollars. So here's what I don't understand, or maybe just have a moral issue with? Shouldn't either the AGENCY or the APs (after the adoption is finalized) have to RE-PAY the government? Why should the rest of us taxpayers foot the bill for these agencies/attorneys or the better equipped adopters? And the adopters get to 'write off' this new kid for 10K, no? Bio mother of child gets nada, right? Are the rest of us subsidizing infant adoption? MK: At the time I took out loans from the government for college I was a student, when I became a graduate, I had to pay back the loans. Maybe the APs ought to pay back the benefit when they become that child's parents. I wonder how much th federal govt. has invested in infant adoption over the last couple decades...
(Wish I had that problem.)
