Potty training a 3 1/2 year old boy? My step son is potty trained when it comes to urinating during the day. He is really good with it and will use the big boy toilet for it instead of a potty, and I can't remember the last time he had an accident. However he still wants nappies when he goes for a poo. The problem is that he has started to become very uncomfortable when he goes for a poo, and I think that the reason is that there isn't enough room in the nappies anymore because his movements are the size of a little boys as opposed to a toddler. We have the potty, and also a childs loo seat for him, which he will happily sit on to practice, but he gets into such a state if we even suggest to him to sit on it for a real poo. Also he is starting school in September, and it would be better for him if he was using the toilet by then. We have tried a reward chart, and he happily agrees with it when he doesn't need to go, but when it comes to actually going to the toilet, he isn't interested unless he can have his nappy. Help! baby swimming - your thoughts? hiya all, jacks 12 weeks now, had his 2nd injections on tuesday (poor lad), i was just wondering when i could take him swimming? i asked the nurse who stabbed my poor baby (lol) and she said around 14weeks. just wondering what u all think? i really want to take him as im a good swimmer but developed a stupid bits in water fear as iv grown up and i really dnt want to pass it on to jack. i think he'd love it as he LOVES his bath, he gets so excited at bath time, i only have to start undressing him and he's all smiles, legs kicking, the works. thanks all. oh and do pampers do swimming nappies? (not 2 keen on huggies, and iv only seen 7-13lbs or 20lbs+ i havnt seen any in the middle... jack was 12lb 14 at 10weeks so...) thanks all xxx hmm dunno why my q says it was asked in the u.s... anyway, no hun its just a small pool, a 25mtr adult pool and a small, shallow 5mtr x 10mtr childs pool. im all excited :D x Have your friendships changed since you became a Mum? I am the only one out of my friends (apart from a couple girls I met from my parenting group, who I hardly now yet) who has a baby, she is 3 months old. I have been really good friends with this one girl, but ever since I had my daughter things just are not the same. She constantly asks me to go out during the night, which I can not do yet, I breastfeed and its just to hard and even when I finally wean my daughter nights out will still be rare. And when we do things during the day, she keeps wanting to do lots of things all day, say we go for a shop, then she will want to eat out and then go to the movies later on. I do not have the time for these things anymore, and its not like she asks to do things that are very baby appropriate. Yesterday she asked me if I wanted to go shopping with her I said that would be a good chance for me to pick up a box of nappies she laughed and replied by I meant a dress for my birthday not nappies .I just wish people would understand that I have a child now, and obviously I can not do all the things I use to, my priorities have changed. And really those things do not interest me as much, I would rather take my daughter for a walk along the beach, then just go home and spend some quality time with her. Anyway sorry about my rant. My question actually is, have your friendships changed? Do you find it hard to relate to some of your friends now? Thanks!! Do you find buying nappies a pain? I don't think this service exist but if it did, would you find it useful to have a nappy subscription and be delivered the right amount of nappies for your baby every week (or month), rather than having to buy them from the shop? Edit: I live in the UK, diapers.com doesn't deliver here. And I don't think they do a subscription? The idea behind subscription rather than buying in bulk is that, especially in the early days, you can't really buy in bulk as the baby grows so fast. And the subscription means you never run out, AND never stock too much... Tips on flying long haul with 14mth baby. Any advice? I will be flying from Melbourne, Australia to London UK with my baby daughter who will be 14 months. I have flown between the two cities before but never with baby. Will be flying Singapore Airlines (love them and apparently they are good for babies) and plan on going for three weeks (that's all the time off we can afford). Things to consider: 1) Dont really want to give her sedatives 2) She is usually breastfed to sleep (which can be handy but also...tricky!) 3) I will be bringing portable DVD player, lots of nappies, plastic bags, small toys and get them out one at a time, will be using a baby carrier, books, wipes - that's all the advice I have so far...
