What jobs are involved with newborn babies?
Hey guys. Im really wanting to work with newborn babies, i have researched alot and have come up with; Labor and Delivery/Newborn Care baby nurse NICU pediatrician Postpartum Nurse Nursery Nurse Postpartum Play specialists None of these seem to fit, So far, my choice is a midwife, i'v wanted to be one for as long as i can remember, but i was just wondering if there was anything else that dealed more with newborns, im talking about things like; When the baby is born, cleaning the baby up, taking it to be checked, checking it out for any problems(or not), looking after the baby while it is in hospital eg, changing nappies, bathing, feeding or helping the mother with all these things. I dont like alot of the idea's listed above, because alot of them work with babies that only have problems with them and i dont think i could do that day in day out, i wouldnt mind the odd complication but not everyday. Do midwifes do these things i mentioned? Google isnt being the greatest help. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

newborn care and milestones?
my baby is about 10 days old and my husband is convenced that she is ummm a little slow? she pees on herself or defecates herslef frequently during diaper change (therefore getting herself covered in pee or poo) which my husband said was never an issue for him or his brother when they were babies (they would wait until a clean diaper was on to do their buisness) and she doesn't laugh, she smiles, but not really in response to anything, she just kinda does it when she feels like it i guess (he says she should be laughing?) is my baby slow? or is she normal and he was fast? please somebody tell me what was normal for your baby when they were only a week or two weeks old?

What kind of visits qualify for well-baby care under normal health insurance?
I had a baby in December of 2009 by cesarean section and stayed three days in the hospital following the birth. The hospital said the baby had to be seen by a pediatrician each day. The pediatrician billed $125 for the first visit and $55 for the next two visits. I have insurance which waives the deductible for well baby care. The claim was processed under the billing codes 99460 and 99462 with the insurance company processing the claim as normal newborn care / hospital follow up. My question is this: are the visits with the pediatrician at the hospital normally considered well baby care for insurance purposes? It seems like they should be, since the hospital requires the visits in order to discharge mother and baby.

RN specialized in neonatal, newborn care, or newborn nursery nurse information needed?
**I want actual answers, if your gonna be dumb about it and say stupid things-dont bother** I am sophmore in high school, and I'v found its time to start planning the future after school. I have dreams to be an RN and hoping to specialize in newborn care, neonatal, or a newborn nursery nurse. I'm having some contradictions on what classes will help me in high school, what degree i need to go for in college, how many years of schooling(college) is needed, and just any info on the job you can provide for me. Hopefully I get some good answers that will help me better plan my career and future! Thanks in advance! AHHH thank you swordfish! Is there anyway I could email you and find out more? I haven't yet been able to get much information, and have never got information from an actual RN. Thank you so much for answering my question.
