Got scratched by the metal corner of my computer desk, worried about Tetanus, will I be okay? I'm an 18 year old male, a bit of a worrier I had a Tetanus shot about 3 years ago. Okay, so here's what happened. I was walking in to my room to look for something under my bed this past Tuesday night. Now my computer desk is diagonal to my bed... So basically I walked by my computer desk and as I was dropping down to the floor to look under my bed, I scratched the right side of my thigh pretty good on the metal corner of the desk. However, I think the metal scraped the outside of my sweat shorts and did not actually touch my skin. The scratch is about 3 1/2 to 4 inches long. It started bleeding shortly after I initially scratched myself, so I immediately went to my bathroom applied some Neosporin. I should mention I am a bit of a worrier have had anxiety over my health before, even though I've always been healthy. Now two days later, I'm terrified thinking I'm going to get Tetanus. I called my doctor's office and even spoke to a nurse. I had a Tetanus shot in August of 2007, and I asked her if I have anything to worry about and she said no you're fine. Yet, I'm still worried! Everyone I've talked to thus far has told me I'll be okay because Tetanus shots last for 5-10 years, but is it possible I would have needed a booster shot for this scratch I got? I'm so worried, I want to believe the nurse because she's a nurse but I keep thinking I need to get a booster because of the scratch I received. Additional details: the corner of the desk is not rusty, it's just sharp. Thanks in advance! What's the future for nursing? I was wondering how nursing may be affected by government regulation, unions, and global competition in the future? Should celebrities be paid less? My husband and I were debating this and we got on the subject of how the military sacrifices their lives daily and are given sub-par health service..etc. The real heroes of society are paid next to nothing. And my husband feels that celebrities shouldn't get what they get.....and I thought about it for a bit.....yes, I know his view is an ideal view but I think of it differently, How many people have the ability to perform like Beyonce, sing like Mariah or Jazmine Sullivan shoot a ball like Lebron James, etc? A gift doesn't come from going to college, or extremely long practice sessions...or even signing an obscure government contract. Yes, you can develop inherent gifts, but the number of ppl with those special talents are not equivalent to the number of ordinary people. I feel that a person with an extraordinary talent will be celebrated by society more bc of how unique they are. Now, many celebrities hoard their blessings instead of doing what is right and spreading it around. For every spy bag one of them buys, they could feed 100's of children in their own back yard. But charity has to be in your heart. If you are an ordinary person, you won't be paid like a rock star...bc for every 1 of you, there are 100 more graduating college this year.....or signing that contract.....ordinary people are easily replaceable because they are so common. I think that is why celebrities exist as they do......more people enjoy their talent.......that still doesn't make being a teacher, or a nurse, or another otherwise ordinary person an insignificant task bc even celebrities need doctors. What's your view? Men scare me a lot--help? Whenever I'm around men, I get really uncomfortable. The male nurses at the doctors' scare me really badly, because to check my blood pressure and such, they have to touch me. I don't like being touched by both genders, but it's worse around men! My daddy passed when I was six weeks old, and my brothers' father was absent most of their lives. So our lives seriously lack a father figure. Our mother went into mourning for my father, and my older brother I were put into a foster home (long, long story--it's not really my mother's fault one bit, so don't judge). My mother got to see us every so often, and one time, I remember her telling me I had a period at the age of two--I believe my brother and I were still in foster care. But I have a hard time believing that a 1 1/2 or 2 year old girl can have a period--even my ex-girlfriend said that there would have to have been some sort of trauma, including with the fact I'm touchy when it comes to being touched. So, could I have been abused in foster care, and that's why I feel this way towards men? Trying to pursue a nursing career? I am a nursing major and i go to a community college. i started taking my pre reqs for their nursing program and i realized my gpa isnt high enough to even get in. and the same goes for the program at universities. it seems everyone wants to be in the medical field so it just keeps getting more competitive every year. i was thinking in going to a tech school and getting my lpn and then bridging to RN. does that sound like a good idea? if not what else should i do? because my dad seems to be thinking i am going backwards and that tech schools or for people who want to be in college. idk what to do, because i don't really see a better option where do i search for lpn entry level jobs in massachusetts on th internet/nursing homes? I am a new lpn grad and need to get the right places to apply for employment. Who gets the better job? Someone once told me that if you attain a degree from a private university/college (more expensive) you are most likely to be considered for a job than if you attended a public university/college (cheaper) ( However, I do know some good public schools in NY like Stony Brook and Binghampton) Is this true? Right now I am studying to attain a nursing degree from an expensive university. So will I be considered for a job before someone who is getting their degree from a public institution. can someone explain to me what my progesterone level should be at 8 weeks pregnant? I am about 8 weeks pregnant and just had my first labwork done. my hcg levels were at 23,000 but my progesterone level was at only 7.5. the nurse informing me said that she would have to talk to the dr because sometimes this level was indicative of inevitable miscarriage!?!? then she called back about 2 hours later and stated that dr said it looked good and i did not even need the follow up labs. I am still very concerned and have another week before my next appointment. i am going on the suppositories today but am still worried. any advice or experience with this issue? What happens in the hospital when you break your wrist and have some other minor injuries? one of my brothers is writing a story and he likes to be very detailed. one part of the story is one of the characters breaks his wrist and has some other minor injuries like scrapes and bruises i guess and maybe some sprains. he wants it to be something like a bad fall off a bicycle. so like if u get brought to the hospital not by an ambulance but by a parent or someone, exactly what happens? i know it depends on severity and stuff like that but dont say that just tell us what generally happens. weve all been in the hospital before but dont really remember it. how many doctors and nurses come in and when and what do they each do? how often do they do an iv? what else? I have small itchy bumps on my legs, stomach, and sides. What could they be? They are sometimes in groups. They are not filled with pus. They are just red, but usually when I itch them. I'm 12 years old. My mom is a infection control nurse at Health Source. She thinks its contact dermatitis. We bought this lotion called curel it helps itchy skin but its not working on me. I have not gone to the doctor about it yet. Two questions about cats/kittens...please help 10 points!? 1 Last year I found a stray cat. She ended up to be expecting kittens. She had them and now they are 8 weeks old (8 weeks and 1 day if it makes a difference.) She snuck out yesterday when we were unloading grocery's from the car and she may have been in heat because my mother heard her crying but I don't know. I looked and looked and looked and there was this black cat but I THINK he was neutered but I don't know why he'd be around our neighborhood if he was. Anyway I found the cat hiding in these bushes in front of our house and another cat was laying near-ish her (but this cat is a girl.) I don't know if she even got pregnant but I am worried she did because I don't know how we could take care of even more kittens (they'd be born during the school season and during all of our sports.) So I was wondering if her kittens were old enough to have their mother spayed? I did catch them trying to nurse the other day but I think they'd try to nurse if their mother was around because they are all eating solid food fine. Please help me know if I can get her spayed or not. (We were going to get her spayed even before what happened yesterday but we wanted the kittens to be a little older) #2 One of the kittens new owners wants to take her kitten home today but I'm worried that she is not old enough to go yet. She is eating and using the litterox fine but I'm just not sure. She is around 2 lbs. 10 oz. but that's just a quess because she was squirming around to much when I was weighing her. So I was just wondering if she could be taken today or to wait a couple of weeks? What is braces bonding? My orthodontist said im getting it done on monday and that itll take 30 mins. I have spacers in right now thats all weve done. Do i need to choose by then if i want normal or clear braces or does that not matter yet? will the orthodontist be doing this or one of the little nurses? Grey's Anatomy novel? (The one about characters Joe the Bartender and Nurse Debbie)? I recently read online about a novel released by the producers of Grey's Anatomy. Can anyone tell me any more information about this novel? Where it was released? Is it available for general publlic? etc Would you believe this story? Preterm labor but not sent to the hospital? My friend is known for fabricating stories that involve something being wrong with her, i mean she always has some kind of story about something being wrong with her and they never add up or make sense. For example and this is just one of her fabulous stories. Last year she claimed to have cervical cancer however the things that she claimed the doctors and nurses told her did not add up or even make sense. Anyways she is 6 months pregnant now and she just told me that she went into preterm labor on monday and didnt know. She said she was at work and started having cramps so she went home. THe next day she had a docots appointment and she claims that her doctor told her that she was in preterm labor. But this is where it gets kind of hard to believe, her doctor didn't send her to the hospital! I had the same doctor as her and i just can't picture her telling someone that they are in labor at 6 months and not send them to the hospital. Does this sound like a fabricated story to you? Am i wrong to assume that she is yet again lying to get attention? What would you think if someone told you that they were in preterm labor and their doctor didnt send them to the hospital to have their labor stopped or to monitor them? What job would benefit me the most in the US Marines? I'm joining the Marines. I took the test and qualified for any job that I like, but I also wear glasses which might disqualify me from some of them. But here's my question... Which job would provide me with the most/best skills so that I might find it easier to find a job/get into graduate school afterward? For a Marines job, I'm leaning towards engineering or communications or the nuclear-biological-chemical specialist. For a post-Marines job, I'm open to almost anything but am leaning towards being a doctor, a nurse, a scientist, running my own business or working in law enforcement. Does anyone have experience in this area? Maybe I didn't really make myself clear. I want to be a Marine, which is why I didn't choose the Navy or Army for their medical programs. But I figure if I'm going to bust my bottom for them, I might as well take full advantage of what they can give me. Which astrological sign makes the best nurse? i keep getting this yellow creamy thin but clumpy discharge? i know the questions long, but i really need help! its driving me insane, well it all started when i kept getting constant urine infections i don't need you to tell me ways how to prevent urine infections as, ive done it all and even been to a urologist nothing works only the long term antibiotics he gave me last month but it don't stop my bladder from being uncomfortable! well i keep getting discharge like i explained in the description of my question it comes like 4 times aday and does not smell or itch it just leaves my bladder sometimes uncomfortable and is more likely to come when im stressed or hot down there or sometimes it just comes! LONG TERM ANTIBIOTICS = whats could it be and how can i treat it? i already had a thrush tablet of the doctor but that didn't stop it, plus the fact im on long term antibiotics could that be why? ON THE PILL= im on the contraceptive pill which changes hormones could that be why? even though it didn't start for about 2 months after i started the pill which was when my infections came anyway also i don't want to go to the doctors because my nurse gets me pissed off she took my swob's wrong that i had to have them done 3 times, but it all came back negative for everything so i haven't got an STI or STD she also left the tube thing up me whilst taking my swob's as she was speaking to another nurse, and when nothing showed up in my urine when i had a urine infection she didn't give me nothing and i was in pain as i though i had internal cystitis, and when i explain this discharge they give me thrush pessary or tablet which isn't helping! so how can i cure this? or what is it so i can tell the nurse without her giving me another thrush treatment! im due to the urologist next month? show i explain to him? Pregnancy C-Section questions. 10 points best answer.? I had Mirena IUD inserted in June and made an appointment to have it checked a couple weeks ago since the highest chance of it falling out is within the first 12 weeks of insertion. I just had my first baby by c-section in March and I'm worried that I may have gotten pregnant if the mirena fell out. I'm 5 days late for my period and I'm taking a preg test tonight after my husband gets home from work.
