How long do I have to keep the negatives of past clients? I retired several years ago from wedding and portrait photography. I have tried to reach some of my clients but it is very time consuming. I am willing to send them what I have on file, but most people have moved or are divorced. I was told by another photographer that if I post and ad in the local newspaper announcing my retirement and telling people that they can have their negatives for free if they contact me is all I have to do. After the set time alloted I can then destroy the negatives. That sounds a little harsh to me but I need to clear out the files in storage. Any suggestions? Which do you prefer I'm confused on which one to buy. I've seen the reviews and samples of pictures from each lenses, and they both are good, but I saw little difference that only a trained eye can spot. I don't know which one to buy for portrait photography. I'm not too serious, but yea. I don't know which one to buy. Is this a good beginner Light Kit? Hi, I am looking into buying a lighting kit for portrait photography. While browsing I found this two kits the Home Studio Lighting Kit from Erin Manning http://www.photobasics.net/details.cfm?id=183 and this MonoLight Strobe Kit from CowboyStudio http://www.cowboystudio.com/product/c07/p0702-01.php I don't want to spend too much money right now since I am just starting and it seems like this kits are a good deal. If any of you have used this kits, I'd like to know what you think about them. As I was reading about lights I had heard about the long light recovery and even being a starter I think waiting 5 to 7 seconds is way too long, it’ll be forever before I can finish a photoshoot and that’s not something I like. Since you mentioned the thing about the square softboxes, I’d like to know, How do you feel about umbrellas? I saw this photoshoot with an 86” umbrella and really liked how it looked so I am thinking on possibly buying one as well. I love the picture of your son! He’s a very cute kiddo! I am trying to overcome the following obstacles: 1. Understanding how and when to use my external flash to the best of it's ability 2. How and what techniques for post processing would be most beneficial. I've been told my composition is spot on, I am not concerned with that. Mostly I want to gain a deeper understanding of flash, when it's best to use it, how is best to use it, and as well of post processing tips and techniques.
