18 month toddler, high calcium level, Low vitamin D? My 18 month old daughter is very small, only 18.8 pounds. She was full term weighing 6 lbs 11 ozs at birth. She is very healthy and bright otherwise. She refuses most dairy products. Due to her lack of weight gain over the last 3 months, our pedi ordered blood tests. Everything was normal aside from a high level of calcium. She thinks it may be due to a lack of vitamin D and wants to add vitamin D supplement. It does make sense that vitamin D helps your body absorb calcium thereby lowering a calcium level. However I may be mistaken but I could swear that I read in the NEJM a few years back that a low vitamin D level NEVER causes a high calcium level. That by adding vitamin D you actually increase the calcium level. We have had the same pedi for over 15 years. I really do trust her. I am just not sure about this. My question is has anyone dealt with this with their children or themselves? Did taking vitamin D lower your calcium level? Any other thoughts? A desire to lose weight has nothing to do with my question. Also my daughter really does eat healthy - most frest veggie, some fruit, pasta and such. We use mostly whole wheat products in our home. She drinks NO soda or sugary type drinks. Her favorite foods - that you can almost always get her to eat are spinach or tomatoes or green beans. Did you see this article about our fearless leader acting like a toddler? What do you think? Wow. Biden threw a tantrum when Israel did not jump to obey his unreasonable demands. Israel announced the building of more houses in Israeli territory. The Palestinian terrorists don't like it, and neither do the radicals in the White House. So Biden shows up 1 1/2 hours late to an official dinner in Israel and takes the opportunity to criticize the only peaceful democracy in the Middle East. For building homes in Israel without American permission. The Israelis apologized for the timing, which was unfortunate. The apology, that is. Biden needs to grow up and act his age. My 7 year old has a runny nose, constantly, I mean all year round, all day. She has been like this since she was a toddler. I know I had the same thing but i had allergies, the Dr finally did a blood test for allergies and it came back negetive. So if she doesn't have allergies, then what else could cause her to have a runny nose ALL the time? No matter what season it is. Let me add that she is not allergic to cats, dogs or any animals, she has had this for years and we just NOW got a puppy, Other then that hasn't been around animals. New ideas for toddler lunch? I either give my son a sandwich of some kind or some pasta - can anyone give me some inspiriation? I tried fish fingers but he doesn't like fish. He likes most other things though! thanks JWs this may appear a little of an unusual question? but my son is a toddler and loves to watch Noddy. One one of his dvds Noddy has a birthday party. I wondered what you would do if your children were watching a film or show and it included a birthday or Christmas celebration. Would you fast forward through the bit, not allow them to watch it, or just allow them to watch it and explain that those type of celebrations are considered 'wrong'? I am grateful to you thank you NJB How to get a toddler to behave correctly? Hi everyone, I just had a few questions I would like to ask. My brother-in-law and sister-in-law have a son that is almost 2 years old. My fiance and I have a son that is 3 months old. My nephew behaves very badly. Some examples of things he does are: throws food when he is eating, throws tantrums in stores, hits people (including our 3 month old son), breaks things, sleeps in his parents bed, hits animals, and does not share. He is very spoiled, and jealous. He does not like when grandma and grandpa hold our son. He can be very cute and funny but overall he is a very rotten child. It drives me absolutely insane how he acts. I feel like I can not say anything because he is my fiance's brothers son so he is not technically my nephew. Like I said he is almost 2 and he is not talking and he is not even close to being potty trained. His parents do not spend a lot of time working with him on these things, and in my opinion really don't know how to be a parent. Everytime their son does something he obviously should not, like throw food at people, they laugh it off and think it is cute. While I am cringing inside because I cannot stand behavior like that. I believe it is a parents job to teach their children how to be polite and well behvaved. I am 5 years younger than his parents and not to toot my own horn but I feel like I know more than they do about parenting. My fiances parents (which are also my fiance's brothers parents) think that they do not know how to be parents and just had a child for show. So I am starting to get very irritated and nervous that his behavior will rub off on my son eventually. I will NEVER let my son act the way that he does. I have tried to talk to my sister-in-law but she just blows it off. I can not stress enough how important it is to me that my son is very well behaved. I know that kids are not perfect and can misbehave, but I truly believe that the way a child acts all depends on the parenting they recieve. My son is only 3 months old and I do not spoil him at all, I have never spoiled him. So what are some tips that you have to make sure my son does not act this way? What where your parenting styles to make sure your children where well behaved? Also I would like to know if you did have to deal with children acting up like that what where your ways to deal with it? Thanks ahead of time! No rude comments please! Could a lack of sleep cause psychosis and mood changes? I'm currently undergoing treatment for Hodgkin's Lymphoma, and have been struggling with insomnia for months, but it's been absolutely brutal this past week. I haven't slept *at all* in five days. And yes, I've tried to sleep. My emotions are completely unstable right now. I'll cry over really minor issues, I had a massive fight with my parents and just totally like LOST it and acted like a toddler having a fit, and my thoughts will race. I'll talk sometimes like I'm super hyper, as if I'm on drugs or something. Even though I don't even drive a Prius anymore, I was paranoid this morning about driving because of the news about the man whose car accelerated and wouldn't brake, and it's completely out of character for me to have anxiety about that sort of thing. When I was painting earlier I kept on seeing it as if it was animated - like not dancing in a cartoon - but swaying a little. I'll go through periods where I'll feel absolutely lucid and fine, and then my emotions will just break apart. I feel like I'm having psychosis or something. My oncologist told me that I have chemo brain that is making it harder for me to concentrate, but I don't know if it would affect my moods. I'm 17, so that could be a minor factor, too, but I think I'm way past that hormonal ranging period. I have a mild fever and red scab marks, but I think its just a reaction to radiation and not the reason I'm being so weird. I see my oncologist on Fridays so I'll talk it all over with her then, but it would be nice to know now if you can become like temporarily emotionally unstable and a little crazy because of a lack of sleep. I've NEVER had any mental issues before in my life. Sorry if this totally is rambling and way too long. I really want to become a A.I technician for cows but have no idea where to start..? I have a young toddler so doing study from home is best to boost my knowledge but where do i start? What unit standards do i need to complete before i can get anywhere with it..
